DLT Registration/Signup Process in Jio

What is DLT registration?

Distributed ledger technology or DLT refers to a blockchain technology registration system that is designed to record and regulate all the transactions undertaken by users on the network. Distributed ledger technology registration was brought about in public interest as a measure to curb the instances of spam SMS. DLT registration is now compulsory in accordance with the TRAI (Telecom Regulatory Authority of India) rules.

Who needs DLT registration?

DLT registration is meant for anyone who intends to send bulk SMS or transaction SMS to their customers. The following two entities can do this:

  • Telemarketers

  • Private entities

Benefits of DLT registration

DLT registration is advantageous for customers receiving these messages as well as the enterprise. Listed below are some of the benefits users can derive from DLT registration:

For enterprises

  • This results in a more focused and targeted reach.

  • DLT registration makes bulk SMS effortless since the templates and headers are already present on the platform.

  • This optimizes your bulk SMS efforts since it facilitates communication with those customers who are interested in hearing from you.

For customers

  • The messages received are filtered, ensuring that all messages are verified and not spam.

  • Employing blockchain technology also guarantees user safety.

  • Since registrations for telemarketers and enterprises are different, there is no ambiguity about the sender.

  • DLT registration makes bulk SMS user-centric as customer consent is mandatory
